The 2026 box office is two stories at once. At the top, five films are already past $1 billion with two months to go, more than all of 2025’s releases managed. Underneath, the money is more international than ever: across the year’s 200 biggest films, two dollars in three came from outside the US and Canada.

Below are the 25 highest-grossing films of 2026 worldwide as of October 28, 2026, from Box Office Mojo, and what the totals add up to.

The short version

  • No. 1: Spider-Man: Brand New Day, $2.52 billion. The Odyssey ($1.80 billion), Toy Story 5 ($1.15 billion), Michael ($1.03 billion) and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie ($1.01 billion) complete the billion-dollar club.
  • Five billion-dollar films, against four for all 2025 releases.
  • Concentration: the top 10 have earned $10.59 billion, 48% of the $22.0 billion the year’s top 200 films have grossed. The top five alone have earned 34%.
  • International money dominates: across the top 200, 34% of gross came from the US and Canada and 66% from the rest of the world.
  • Seven of the top 25 barely played in the US. They earned under 1% of their gross in the US and Canada, nearly all of it abroad.

Each of this year’s billion-dollar films set a record of its own:

Among the top Hollywood releases, the share earned in the US and Canada ranges from about half (Project Hail Mary and Obsession, both about 50%) to under a third (The Devil Wears Prada 2, 32%). The billion-dollar films sit in the middle at 35% to 42%, which is the usual shape for a global franchise. The international audience is what turns a $400 million domestic hit into a billion-dollar one.

The other half of the international story is films that never really played in America. Seven of the top 25 earned less than 1% of their worldwide gross in the US and Canada: Pegasus 3, Once Upon a Time in the Middle East, Kung Fu Soccer, All Wishes Come True!, Dear You, Blades of the Guardians and Scare Out. Pegasus 3, distributed by Maoyan, earned $656 million, 99.8% of it outside the US and Canada, and ranks eighth in the world.
