How This Chart Works
How are Billboard year-end charts calculated?
Billboard's year-end charts rank titles by cumulative weekly chart performance across a tracking year running from roughly late October to mid-October, not the calendar year. That is why an album released in late autumn can win the following year's chart, and why a song can appear on two consecutive year-end lists.
Which artist has dominated the year-end charts the most?
Taylor Swift holds the most year-end No. 1 positions across 2010–2025, counting Billboard's three artist-of-the-year titles plus the No. 1 album and No. 1 song of each year (15 in total). Adele is next with 10.
Why are the 2026 charts not shown?
Billboard publishes its year-end charts in early December, after the tracking year closes in mid-October. The 2026 charts do not exist yet. This page covers every completed year through 2025.
Are these critics’ rankings or sales rankings?
These are chart rankings — measured commercial performance across sales, radio airplay and streaming, compiled by Billboard and Luminate. They are not a critics’ list and carry no editorial opinion about quality.
Sources & Method
Every position on these pages is a chart placement — a measured fact about sales, radio airplay and streaming across Billboard’s tracking year — not an editorial ranking. Albums come from the year-end Billboard 200, songs from the year-end Hot 100, and the three artist titles from Billboard’s year-end artist charts.
Where a year’s full top 10 could not be confirmed against a free, named source, the unverified positions are left out and the list is labelled partial rather than padded.
