Spotify’s all-time most-streamed list changes every day, and the top of it barely moves. Below is the list as of October 27, 2026, with two calculations the raw ranking doesn’t show: when the top 100 songs were released, and how fast each one is piling up streams.
The short version
- No. 1: The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” 5.653 billion streams. Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” (5.161 billion) and The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather” (4.986 billion) follow.
- The top 100 add up to about 345.6 billion streams.
- The 2010s own the list: 63 of the 100. Fifteen were released in the 2020s and 13 before 2000. The median release year is 2016. No 2025 or 2026 release has made it in yet.
- The fastest climbers are from 2024. “Die with a Smile” (Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars) averages about 1.87 billion streams a year since release, and “Birds of a Feather” (Billie Eilish) about 1.66 billion. That’s roughly twice the lifetime average pace of “Blinding Lights.”

Stream counts and release dates as compiled from Spotify’s own play counts in Wikipedia’s list of Spotify streaming records, as of October 27, 2026. Positions 51 to 100 are in the same list.
When the top 100 came out
| Released in | Songs in the top 100 |
|---|---|
| 1970s | 3 |
| 1980s | 6 |
| 1990s | 4 |
| 2000s | 9 |
| 2010s | 63 |
| 2020s | 15 |
Our count from the list’s release dates.
The 2010s dominate largely because of timing. A song released in 2016 has had about ten years of streaming, all of them at the scale Spotify reached in that decade. Older songs had to earn their streams as catalogue, and a 2024 song has had only two years. The peak years are 2017 (11 songs), 2019 (9), 2016 and 2018 (8 each).
The 13 songs from before 2000 are the evergreen catalogue: “Bohemian Rhapsody” (1975), “Dreams” (1977), “Don’t Stop Me Now” (1979), “Don’t Stop Believin’” (1981), “Billie Jean” and “Africa” (1982), “Every Breath You Take” (1983), “Take On Me” (1984), “Sweet Child O’ Mine” (1987), “Smells Like Teen Spirit” (1991), “Creep” (1992), “Wonderwall” (1995) and “Iris” (1998). These are the songs catalogue buyers are paying for when they buy old hits (see why hit songs are now a Wall Street asset class).
The pace: which songs are climbing fastest
Total streams favor old songs. Dividing each song’s total by the years since its release gives its average annual pace, a rough measure of how fast it’s climbing. (For songs released before Spotify launched in October 2008, we count from the launch date.)
Four of the ten fastest songs came out in 2024: “Die with a Smile,” “Birds of a Feather,” “Espresso” and “Beautiful Things.” With 4.098 billion and 4.069 billion streams, “Die with a Smile” and “Birds of a Feather” already rank 11th and 13th, ahead of songs that had a decade’s head start.
Two caveats. This is an average over each song’s whole life, not its current daily rate, and streaming usually slows after a song’s first year or two. Treat it as a measure of how fast each song got this far, not a forecast of when it reaches No. 1.

Method
- Data: Spotify’s displayed play counts for its 100 most-streamed songs, as compiled in Wikipedia’s list of Spotify streaming records, dated October 27, 2026.
- Our calculations: decade and year counts from release dates, credit counts by artist (lead and featured), total streams, and average streams per year (total ÷ years from release, or from Spotify’s launch on October 7, 2008, to October 27, 2026).
- Updates: the list moves daily. We’ll refresh it periodically and change the “as of” date when we do.
